6 common questions answered
Is the oil filter replaced every time a 2024 Nissan Kicks has its oil changed? The oil filter should be replaced with the oil when the service calls for an oil and filter change.
The filter holds debris carried away by the oil, and a loaded filter can open its bypass valve so oil circulates unfiltered. The manufacturer’s maintenance schedule and the vehicle’s service history help determine when the service is due.
- Filter matched to the 1.6-liter engine
- Sealing surface renewed where applicable
- Filter seal checked for leaks after the engine runs
What is included in an oil filter replacement on a 2024 Nissan Kicks? The service includes an engine-matched filter, a new drain plug gasket or washer where used, and a post-service leak check.
The filter is matched to the engine actually fitted to the 2024 Nissan Kicks. After installation, the engine is run so the filter seal can be checked for leaks. The filter is replaced alongside the oil rather than carried into another change.
- Filter matched to the engine specification
- New drain plug gasket or washer where the engine uses one
- Leak check at the filter seal after running the engine
What happens if the oil filter on a 2024 Nissan Kicks is not replaced?A loaded filter can open its bypass valve, allowing oil to reach the engine without being filtered.
The engine still receives oil, but it no longer receives the same filtration step. Debris held by the filter can contribute to continued contamination as oil circulates. An oil-pressure warning or an engine that sounds noisier than usual should be addressed with an inspection.
- Debris remains a concern as the filter loads
- Unfiltered oil may circulate through the engine
- Oil-pressure warnings call for prompt attention
Does a 2024 Nissan Kicks need a specific oil filter?Yes, the filter is matched to the 1.6-liter, 1,598 cc inline-four engine, and filters are not interchangeable across engines.
The correct filter depends on the engine actually fitted to the vehicle. Matching the filter helps it perform its debris-holding function as intended. A service appointment can confirm the engine-matched filter before installation without relying on a universal fit.
- 1.6-liter engine displacement
- 1,598 cc engine size
- Inline-four cylinder layout
Can the oil be changed on a 2024 Nissan Kicks without changing the filter? The oil can be changed separately, but an oil and filter service replaces the filter alongside the oil.
Leaving a loaded filter in place allows the bypass valve to open when the filter can no longer hold additional debris. The manufacturer’s schedule, service history, and an inspection determine what service the vehicle needs. Replacing the filter with the oil restores fresh filtration during the same visit.
- Filter captures debris carried by engine oil
- Loaded filters may allow unfiltered circulation
- Service history helps guide maintenance decisions
