6 common questions answered
Is the oil filter replaced every time a 2019 Nissan Versa Note has its oil changed? The manufacturer's published maintenance schedule calls for replacing the oil filter every 5,000 miles.
Replacing the filter with the oil keeps a loaded filter from being carried into another service interval. The filter captures debris from the oil, and its bypass valve can open when the filter becomes loaded.
- Filter replacement is scheduled every 5,000 miles.
- The filter is replaced alongside the oil.
- The filter seal is checked after the engine runs.
What is included in an oil filter replacement on a 2019 Nissan Versa Note? The service includes an engine-matched filter, a new drain plug gasket or washer where applicable, and a leak check after the engine runs.
The filter is selected for the 2019 Nissan Versa Note's engine. Renewing the applicable gasket or washer supports the drain plug seal, while the post-service inspection checks the filter seal.
- Filter matched to the engine's specification.
- New drain plug gasket or washer where the engine uses one.
- Leak check at the filter seal after running the engine.
What happens if the oil filter on a 2019 Nissan Versa Note is not replaced?A loaded filter can open its bypass valve, allowing oil to circulate without being filtered.
The engine still receives oil, but debris captured by the filter is no longer being removed from the circulating oil. Drivers may first notice an oil-pressure warning, a noisier-than-usual engine, or oil that darkens quickly after a change.
- Unfiltered oil can circulate after the bypass valve opens.
- An oil-pressure warning may appear.
- Engine noise or quickly darkening oil can be signs to arrange service.
Does a 2019 Nissan Versa Note need a specific oil filter?Yes, the filter is matched to the 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine in the 2019 Nissan Versa Note.
Filters are not interchangeable across engines because fit and application depend on the engine being serviced. Larry H. Miller Nissan Mesa can match the filter to the engine actually fitted without relying on a universal component.
- Engine displacement: 1.6 liters.
- Engine layout: inline-four.
- Filter selection is matched to that engine.
Can the oil be changed on a 2019 Nissan Versa Note without changing the filter? The oil can be changed separately, but the manufacturer's published maintenance schedule calls for replacing the oil filter every 5,000 miles.
Changing oil without replacing a filter that is due leaves the existing filter in service while it continues collecting debris. The service history and the manufacturer's schedule determine whether the filter is due at a particular visit.
- The filter holds debris carried by the oil.
- A loaded filter may open its bypass valve.
- Filter replacement is scheduled every 5,000 miles.
